Jackie Rae Beam was born on January 28, 1964, to Charles and Anna Mae (Hoffard) Shives in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Rose Catholic Church in Denison. Jackie attended Denison schools and graduated with the class of 1982.
Jackie married Roger Beam on June 9, 1983, in Liberal, Kansas. The couple enjoyed traveling and going on adventures together. Jackie worked at Good Samaritan and National Beef in Liberal, Kansas. In 1990, the couple moved back home to Iowa. She worked as a CNA at various different nursing homes in the Denison area for over 23 years. The couple parted ways after 34 years together.
Jackie met Don Zimmerman and the couple made their home in Earling. They enjoyed traveling and going to music festivals in many of the surrounding states. Jackie loved Bluegrass music. She was a hard worker and loyal to her job. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jackie passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Denison Care Center at the age of 59 years, two months and five days.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; infant child; two sisters: Sharlene Bergamo and Candi Daugherty; and brother, Chuck Shives. She is survived by her siblings: Pam (Randy) Jensen of Schleswig, Teri (Dave) Hartwig of Denison; Bob (Traci) Shives of Underwood; significant other, Don Zimmerman of Earling; brothers-in-law, Barry Bergamo of Denison and Steve Daugherty of Adel; sister-in-law, Lynne Shives of Denison; many nieces and nephews; son, Joshua Beam; bonus daughter, Rosie (Brandon) Jacobson of New York; bonus son, Pete (Amanda) Zimmerman of Elkhorn, Nebraska; grandchildren: Lyla, Everett, Hazel, Josie, Dominick, Xavier and Kayleigha; Roger Beam of Bell Town; and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Inurnment will follow in the Dow City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
