Robert James Lewis
March 19, 1945 - March 27, 2023

Robert J. Lewis, 78, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife Lula of Fort Dodge, son Andrew B. Lewis of Fort Dodge, Alexander Lewis of Fort Dodge, Raymond E. Lewis and his wife Janell of Tulalip, WA, grandchildren LaTashia, Anthony, Kya, Brianna, Clarissa, and Melissa, 3 great grandchildren, sisters Emily Brown and Earline Hopson both of Meridian, MS, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Tubbs and Mary (Jackson) Lewis, son Timothy Lewis, siblings Roosevelt Lewis, Eddie Lewis, Annie Ruth Lewis, Ethel Hubbard, Earl Lewis, and Sally Hull.
Robert James Lewis was born on March 19, 1945, in Lauderdale, MS. He was raised and educated there. On May 16, 1965, he was united in marriage to Lula Wilkins in Lauderdale, MS. In 1968, the couple moved to Fort Dodge. Robert worked at Frigidaire in Webster City, New Idea Implement, did construction and then at Georgia Pacific where he worked for 36 years until his retirement. Robert was a family man, who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, feeding the birds and squirrels. Robert looked forward to conversations with friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
