Eldon Mixer
July 22, 1921 - March 23, 2023

Eldon Loraine Mixer, age 101, of Liberty, died on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 3:15 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.

Eldon was born July 22, 1921 in Beverly, Illinois, the son of Harvie E. and Gladys M. Likes Mixer. He married Thelma Medder in Liberty Christian Church in Liberty, IL. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2008.

Eldon served as a radar technician in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, from October of 1942 until his honorable discharge in November of 1945. He received six Bronze Stars during his involvement in the South Pacific campaign.

Eldon was a life time member of the Liberty American Legion Post 0604 and a member of Liberty Christian Church.

Survivors include: two sons: Eldon (Terry) Mixer of New Port News, VA; and Steven (Glenda) Mixer of Normangee, TX; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Mervin Mixer of Fort Madison, IA; a sister, Yvonne Smith of Clayton, IL.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rosemary Hope; a grandson, Sean Weathers; a brother, Ray Mixer; a sister, Ermaly Wright; his first wife, Nellie Edwards; and all his friends in civilian life and all of his WWII comrades in arms.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

Services: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Liberty Christian Church, with Rev. Terry Henry officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois with military funeral honors provided by American Legion Post 37 and Post 0604 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail.
