Ron Scott, 75, of Randolph, IA passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor, IA. Celebration of Life graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Malvern Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Following the graveside service, a celebration of life gathering will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Lodge (Skyline Sportsman Club 2556 150th Street, Thurman, IA 51654). Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern is caring for Ron and his family.
Memorials: are directed to the family to be distributed later. Ryan Scott will be in charge of arrangements.
OBITUARY
Ronald Newton Scott, 75, of Randolph, Iowa, entered into rest on March 19, 2023. Ronald, or Ron to most, was born on November 1, 1947, to William Newton and Mary Violet (Mathews) Scott in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Ron grew up on the family farm northeast of Tabor. He spent his childhood working on the farm with his dad, raising cattle and horses. With the help of other men in the area, his father created the Little Britches Rodeo, where Ron developed a love for riding horses, and from there, a cowboy was born. Ron followed the Little Britches rodeo circuit with his older sister, Judy. Ron and his dad enjoyed entertaining the crowds with their clown act, which included two mules, Mike and Molly, that they trained to do tricks.
Ron attended Fremont Mills High school, where he graduated in 1965. After high school, Ron continued to work on the family farm and had two children, Sarah Marie, and Chadwick Newton, with his first wife, Mona (Marshall). Ron's passion for the rodeo continued into adulthood. He would participate in local rodeos, competing in events like bulldogging and steer wrestling; he enjoyed the western way of life. Ron also enjoyed moto-cross; he owned a Kawasaki and would compete in many races around the area. After the family sold the farm, Ron was free to travel and explore jobs such as real estate, airport support, and truck driving, to mention a few. Ron had an adventurous side and would call many places home, but he always found his way back to Tabor. Later in life, Ron met and married Teresa (Kingery) and settled in Tabor, Iowa, to have his youngest son, Ryan Michael.
The traveling bug hit him again, and he moved his family to Oklahoma, where they bought a farm and raised cattle. Ron bought a semi and traveled for work while Teresa worked for one of the local schools. Ron hurt his back, and that injury brought them back home to Tabor, Iowa, where he continued to live and raise Ryan.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Steve) Madison of Thurman, IA; sons, Chad Scott of Las Vegas and Ryan (Emily) Scott of Malvern, IA; grandchildren, Shaylee Frost, Luke, Emily, Wyatt Madison; Ashton and Areiya Scott; Wesley Scott. Sisters, Darlene (Myron), Lintner of Sidney, IA, Judy (Jerry Wayne), Olsen of Bellfourche, SD, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives, and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and William Scott; sisters, WillaDean and brother-in-law Jerry Lang; Margaret and brother-in-law Todd Simpson.
