Gerald S. "Jerry" Hooten
March 28, 1949 - March 12, 2023

Gerald S. "Jerry" Hooten, 73, passed away March 12, 2023. He was born in Washington, Indiana, on March 28, 1949, to Gerald B. and Eleanor D. (Ford) Hooten. On November 24, 1979, he married Nancy Godwin Hooten, and she survives.

A 1967 graduate of Washington High School, Jerry went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was retired from the Crane Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center where he was a woodworker. A man of many interests, Jerry enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and watching NASCAR.

Those who now mourn Jerry's passing include his wife, Nancy; son, James R. (Karina) Hooten of Vincennes; and daughter, Chrissy Hooten of Washington. He was blessed with a grandchild, Cadence Kratocvil as well as several nieces and nephews, and a brother, Garry Lee Hooten of Washington. Jerry also leaves his beloved canine companions: Bear, Lucy and Daisy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Eleanor Hooten, and a sister, Rochelle Hooten Fisher.

Visitation for Jerry Hooten will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.

A memorial service for Jerry Hooten will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Dr. Johnny Melton will officiate.

After the conclusion of the memorial service, a graveside service will be held in the Sugarland Memory Gardens where military honors will be accorded by the Washington American Legion and the VFW.
