In loving memory of

Berdell B. Jeschke
February 15, 1936 - March 14, 2023

Berdell Bernhard Jeschke was born on February 15, 1936 on a farm in Hanover Township, the son of Bernhard and Freda (Clausen) Jeschke. He was baptized in Christ and later confirmed his faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Charter Oak. He received his education from a rural country school near his home. After completing his education, he worked for many area farmers. Berdell enlisted in the United States National Guard on November 23, 1956 where he served until, he was honorably discharged on June 8, 1959.

In 1958, Berdell was baptized in the Catholic faith and on June 14,1958, Berdell was united in marriage to Marilyn Hinners at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia. They made their home in Denison and were blessed with four children: Kevin, Kayleen, Keith, and Korey.

On July 5, 1958, Berdell started his 40-year career with Farmland Foods in Denison, retiring in January 1998. After retirement he always kept busy with their rental properties and working at his favorite job, Uncle Leroy's Pumpkin Patch until he and Marilyn moved to Carroll to be closer to their grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed bowling with his Knights of Columbus buddies for over 50 years and traveling with friends of the Crawford 50 Club to Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, England, many cruises to Mexico and trips to Las Vegas. They made many memories on those trips and loved meeting new people. One of the biggest highlights of Berdell's retirement was the hot air balloon ride he and Marilyn took over Cedar Rapids. Berdell had a strong faith in his Lord and he cherished his family more than anything.

"Dear Marilyn and family, we just saw Burdell's funeral announcement today. We were so saddened to read this. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We have so many great memories of you both from being at Uncle Vincent and Aunt Elsie's house to Farmland Events and the guys working there. He was such an awesome and fun guy. I never realized he and my brother Jack were so close in age. Just 13 days apart. I know Mike thought a lot of Burdell. I can still hear him , Mike and Uncle Vincent laughing. Please know you have our deepest sympathy and sending warm hugs your way. Jim and Nancy"
