Stephen E. "Steve" Mester, age 76, of Quincy, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 11:50 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Steve was born May 6, 1946 in Quincy, IL, the son of Dale and Angela Spilker Mester. He married Joy Lynn Marie Queen on August 24, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV. They were together over 40 years in total. She survives.
Steve grew up in the Quincy area and was a graduate of Quincy High School. Over the years he worked various jobs in the Quincy area. He was a manager at Ayerco Convenience Center at 18th and Broadway for a number of years. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed playing cards and fishing while listening to the radio. He was a huge baseball fan; his favorite team was the LA Dodgers. Steve had many health challenges over the years and he handled them all bravely.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Joy, include: sisters-in-law, Joyce (David) Mester of Quincy, Carol (Kenneth) Whaley of Quincy, and Mary Jo (Rich) Stille of Payson; a brother-in-law, Gary Queen of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Mester,and a niece, Regina Mester.
Visitation: 10:00 am - 11:30 pm, Friday March 17, 2023 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
Graveside Service: 12:00 pm Friday, March 17, 2023 at Greenmount Cemetery, with Rev. Tom Rains officiating. Burial will follow.
