Susan Kaye Ulrich was born December 10, 1954, in Fort Dodge.
She attended school in Barnum graduating from Northwest Webster High School in 1973 and Iowa Central Community College in 1975. During high school, Susan's passion was playing basketball and softball. She was united in marriage to Rick Hotz on August 20, 1976 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Clare. They cherished their 47 years of marriage together. Susan held various jobs including employment at Hotline, Truck Trader, and a Substitute Teacher for AEA at the Youth Shelter.
Susan and Rick resided on the Ulrich Century Farm near Clare where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, scrapbooking, reading, word searches, cheering the Iowa Hawkeyes and watching Nascar along with Wheel of Fortune. Susan spent countless hours helping on the farm with meals and moving the guys around from field to field and was a dedicated farm wife. She enjoyed cooking and baking; her Christmas treats were especially enjoyed. Listening to fifties and sixties music was a favorite pastime and going to concerts with Rick was something she always looked forward to. In later years Susan and Rick enjoyed traveling to various locations including the Caribbean, Branson and had recently returned from a trip to Florida with Sharon and her family. Susan and Rick enjoyed the friendships they made along the way with their travels.
Susan cherished being a mom to her only child Sharon and was very proud of her daughter's academic and professional achievements. Her two granddaughters Zoelle and Zariah were great joys in her life; Susan loved reading books and coloring with them.
Susan will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and by all the people in the farming community to which she dedicated her life.
