John J. Gurriere
June 14, 1948 - February 19, 2023
John Gurriere passed away peacefully Sunday, February 19th.
John is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marion Gurriere. He is survived by his sister, Loretta (Douglas) Pratt; nieces, Michelle (Thomas) Riley and Christina (Adam) Earl; great nephews, many cousins & dear friends.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and spent his teen years in West Islip, Long Island, graduating from West Islip High School. John obtained his bachelor's degree from SUNY Geneseo and loved the Finger Lakes area, living and working there for many years. While there, he fell in love with horses and enjoyed riding his horse, Uriel, as often as possible.
Eventually, his work in sales and estimating took him to other areas of New York State. He enjoyed cross-country skiing for many years, swimming, playing with his young nieces, and visiting with extended family.
John had a rebellious nature and loved to discuss politics; he was always one to stand up for others. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, always making people laugh. He will be sorely missed.
