The Life & Legacy of Bernard Rascoe
Bernard Rascoe was born on August 18, 1953 in Ossining, New York to Bush H. and Mary Lou Rascoe. He was the youngest of four children. His nickname growing up was "Blue". Bernard accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ossining, NY.
Bernard graduated from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY earning a BS degree in Business Administration and Management. He had a love for Football and played during his high school years at Ossining High School. His favorite team was his hometown team, The New York Giants. Reading was one of his passions and enjoyed reading books by black authors including stories about Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Marcus Garvey and Jesse Jackson.
Bernard considered himself a man of style with a touch of class. He loved to wear clothes by designers like Steve Harvey and Stacy Adams. As a child, his sister Pat would enter him into fashion shows. He loved music and enjoyed hits from Motown Records. He would often attend shows and musicals at The Apollo Theatre. Bernard loved to sit by the lake while listening to his music and traveling. He had a love for luxury cars such as Cadillac's and his gift at retirement to himself was a money green Jaguar XJL.
Bernard moved to Omaha, Nebraska in the 1980's. He became the proud father of LaToya, Renard, Calvin and Bianca, including his bonus children Tiffany and Vincent. He joined Morning Star Baptist Church and served on the Usher board for several years. As a Manager of claims at Mutual of Omaha, he also worked at Century Link for many years until his retirement in 2020. He joined Carolyn in holy matrimony on September 10, 2016
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Bush and Mary Lou, brother Calvin and sister Patricia Knowles.
He will truly be missed by many. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Carolyn Rascoe, brother Bill (Flo) Rascoe, sister-in-law Renee Rascoe, brother-in-law George Knowles Sr., his 4 children Latoya Rascoe, Renard McGhee, Calvin McGhee and Bianca McGhee, bonus children Tiffany Robbinson, Vincent (Mickey) McGhee, Tony Ammons Jr, Danielle Ammons-DeJesus (Chris) & James Ammons (Stacy). Bernard loved watching and caring for his 4 grandchildren: Naji, Azlynn, Taliyah-Ranette and Messiah and also his 10 bonus grandchildren, who all loved him dearly. He leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Psalm 27:1 - The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
Per Bernard's request, his body will be laid to rest with his deceased family members in Dale Cemetery, Ossining New York.

",Billy and family, Bernard and I went to l Claremont school. together and high school. BERNARD USE TO MEET ME AT VERA'S STORE AND WE WOULD BUY CANDY! . I USE TO VISIT YOUR MOM AND Calvin. Bernard was smart and always stayed in his books. We both eventually left Ossining.. my brother Jimmy ( James Edwards Jr. Who also passed away in 94 talked about how nice your mom was to us. We will miss Bernard. He made his own mark in life and will always be remembered. You all have our sympathy. Your old neighbor on Ann Street, ROBIN Edwards Lake. James Edwards daughter."
