In loving memory of

Jimmie "Pop Pop" Morse
April 5, 1935 - February 10, 2023

Jimmie "Pop Pop" Morse, 87, passed away at the Villages at Oakridge on February 10, 2023. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma, April 5, 1935, to Wallace and Naomi Morse. He married Carolyn DeYoung Morse, January 21, 1961. They enjoyed sixty years together until her passing in 2021.

After high school, Jimmie served his country honorably in the United States Army. Later, he was employed at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, California, where he was an electrician. In 1999, Jimmie and Carolyn moved to Washington to be near their daughter, Julie Halter, and her family. Jimmie was a doting "Pop Pop" to his granddaughter, Lexi Halter. He loved to watch her perform in her school choir - her singing brought him joy. He was also a big supporter of the Immanuel Christian School Sports Program.

Those who now mourn Jimmie's passing include his daughter, Julie (Mark) Halter and their daughter, Lexi of Washington; and siblings, Nell Pierce in Arizona, and Thurman Morse of Bakersfield, California

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Naomi Morse, and his wife, Carolyn Morse.

The family deeply appreciates his church family from the Calvary Baptist Church for their care, compassion and friendship as well the countless others who called, visited, and cared for him during his illness. A special thank you is given to the staff and nurses at the Villages of Oakridge. Because of their care and kindness, Jimmie always felt like he was at home.

The family requests that no flowers or gifts be sent. Everyone's kindness is gift enough.

Funeral services for Jimmie Dee Morse will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana. Pastor Taj Eaton will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery.
