Sandra Kay Podey, daughter of Freddie and Cleone (Schroeder) Podey was born on November 9, 1961 in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Presbyterian Church in Vail. She received her education from Ar-We-Va Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1980.
After graduation, she attended college in Omaha. Sandra was united in marriage to Dennis Nobiling on November 13, 1981 at the United Presbyterian Church in Vail. To this union, they were blessed with two children: Heidi and Ben. The couple later divorced but remained close to raise their children together.
She worked at Ampride in Denison and Ar-We-Va Community Schools as a cook for many years where she made many longtime friends. Sandra had a knack for crafting and painting. She also enjoyed going fishing, road trips to the casino, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sandra passed away unexpectedly at her home in Vail on Friday, February 3, 2023, attaining the age of 61 years, 2 months, and 25 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Doug Monk.
She is survived by her daughter, Heidi Nobiling of Vail; son, Ben Nobiling and his wife Lori of Attalla, Alabama; step-children: Will Monk and his wife Jill of Des Moines, Joe Monk of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rosa and her husband Kevin Lynch of Sioux City; grandchildren: Jokow Tuguor of Ankeny, Cloey, Zoey, and Nadalynn Nobiling all of Attalla, Alabama; siblings: Lyle Podey and his wife Sheryl of Westside, Lucinda "Liz" and her husband Monte Crichton of Vail, Roger Podey of Denison, and Donna and her husband Brad Buren of Vail; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation with family greeting friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.
