In loving memory of

Steven Bradley Spellman

Steven Bradley Spellman went home to Jesus on January 23, 2023, at the tender age of 18 years in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the beloved son of Brad and Belinda Spellman, the best little brother and sidekick of Nicholas Spellman; and a "pet-boy" to his dog Shadow. He was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. Steven attended Simis Elementary School and Madison Meadows Middle School in the Madison School District. He graduated from Sunnyslope High School in the Glendale Union High School District in May 2022 with a GPA of 4.0. Steven received the Principal's Pass for straight A's for the 2021-2022 school year and Honor Roll in September 2021 and February of 2022; and a hard earned scholarship to ASU, UofA, and NAU. He chose to attend Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona to pursue a Business Management degree. He was a full-time student and prior to the start of his freshman year, he had a part time job and was very proud to be a 'contributor' and pay his taxes! Throughout his school years he played RAMMS baseball and was chosen to play in the Cal Ripken league where his team won AZ State Champs at the age of 8 years old--GO RAMMS! He continued his baseball "career" throughout his high school years where he played on club teams and the Sunnyslope Viking Varsity Baseball team where he achieved the AIA All-Region/All Academic Award with the nominations from his teammates and coaches. He also received the "Viking Award" and his letter in 2022--GO VIKINGS! He was a Boy Scout, was in Sunnyslope's Air Force ROTC, loved to fish, camp, hunt, bike, kayak. He volunteered at his church and other organizations; and helped his neighbors as well. Steven leaves behind his family-- Grandmother Emilia Banda (Teodoro Banda), his grandfather, James E. Spellman (Frances Spellman), his aunts and uncles; Maria and Jesus Aviles, Susan and Jeff Spellman, Irisema and Salvador Verdoza, Renee and James J. Spellman. His cousins- - Gabriel and Monica Aviles, James R. and Micah Spellman, Alejandro and Emilia Verdoza, Arianna Johnson and Emily Spellman; and Godparents Paul and Karen Rooks. Steven loved to clown around and always had something funny to say. He couldn't keep a secret to save his life. His eyes and big-beautiful smile spoke volumes. He loved his family, we love him, and was a blessing to all of us. He had a loving and generous heart, but most importantly he was a believer and a faithful servant. Steven's favorite bible verse was John 3:16 -- 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life'. Let us all take comfort that he is with our Savior watching over us and that he is healed in God's glory. Steven's parents and brother want to thank all his extended family and friends for all your prayers of comfort and know that it is our honor and privilege to have Steven be a blessing to all of you as well. "GOD IS GOOD, HE IS GOOD INDEED!"

"A cluch hit, a catch in the outfield to save a game, a friendly smile to a RAMMS Cal Ripken teammate, or cheering for his team to win the State Championship, his memory is sewn in our hearts and shall be spread among our family?for Steven represents placing family first in service to others before himself. Steven was grace under pressure, poised in any situation, and a friend who will always be there, in our family his memory lives on through generations. We will never forget. We Love You Steven. We will always love you. Coach Williams RAMMS Cal Ripken State Champions"

"Brad, Belinda and Nicholas, Without getting too wordy; I just want your family to know how much I love you guys and further that you would know I am constantly praying that God?s peace would envelope you at this time. Steven was blessed to have been born into one of the most Godly families I know. You have always been an inspiration to me. Psalm 91:1 tells us, ?he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.? You have shown me what that verse is telling us in your living example at this time. I love you guys. "
