Ann C. Winfield
August 6, 1923 - January 24, 2023

Ann Winfield, age 99, of Quincy, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 9:00 am in her daughters home.

Ann was born August 6, 1923 in , the daughter of Charles and Emma Abney McCarthy. She married Harold Winfield on October 26, 1946, in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Ann grew up in Quincy and attended Quincy schools. She had worked at the shoe factory in Quincy, and at Motorola. She went on to establish a daycare in Quincy which she operated for many years. She took care of many children over the years and took great pride and pleasure in helping their parents raise them. She had also been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Quincy. In her younger years, Ann enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband and had many fond memories doing so at Myer, IL. She loved hosting family dinners on holidays and Sundays. In recent years she greatly enjoyed going to her niece Emily's home every Friday for dinner and nachos. Ann loved everybody and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Survivors include: four daughters, Linda Bennett of Quincy, Kim (Darren) Kersterke of Dallas City, IL, Joyce (Ed) Egbers of DesMoines, IA, and Bonnie Cleesen of Quincy; 10 grandchildren, Dan Bennett, Theresa "Tess" Ferguson, Troy Cleesen, Steve Cleesen, and Angie (Denny Hildebrand) Cleesen, all of Quincy, Cathy (Blake) Smith and Mike (Jordan) Egbers, both of DesMoines, IA, David Neil Winfield of Quincy, Christina (Tom) Gray of Texas, and Karianne Seltzer of Dallas City, IL; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and a very special niece, who was like a sister to her, Emily Disseler.

I addition to her husband, Harold, Ann was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, David Winfield; two brothers, Frank and Bill McCarthy; and a sister, Margaret Brace.

Services: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 27, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery, with Father Tom Meyer officiating. Burial will follow.

Visitation: There will be no visitation.
