Richard Lindsey Lampkin was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, on September 17, 1945 to James Sr. and Elnoria Lampkin. He attended Tech High School in Omaha, Nebraska.
Richard's friends and family affectionately called him "Chops" or by his middle name, Lindsey.
Richard was a hard working man who took pride in providing and caring for his family. His personality was easy-going, and he was unwaivering in his protection and provision for Barbara, the love of his life, and his three children. He was selfless in putting family ahead of all of his own needs.
He retired in September of 2011 from Tyson Foods where he worked as a Supervisor.
Richard enjoyed traveling with family and friends. For the past several years, Richard cared for his wife, Barbara, after she suffered a stroke. Even while in Hospice Care, his thoughts were always turned first toward her care.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Elnoria Lampkin; brothers, James Lampkin Jr. and Terry (Lee) Lampkin; and sister, Lucille Jones.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his loving wife, Barbara Lampkin; son, Chris (Teena) Smith; daughters, Sherie (Barry) Thomas and Eboni (Robert) Lampkin-Jackson; sister Mary (Seleshi) Alemu (Memphis, TN); brothers, Johnny Lampkin and Michael (Kristie) Lampkin (Lincoln, NE); 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
