Marvin "Pete" Mohr, 84, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday morning, January 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.
A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club in Maquoketa from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M., Sunday, January 22, 2023. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Spragueville Cemetery, Spragueville, Iowa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Marvin P. "Pete" Mohr was born on April 19, 1938, to Leroy and Lena (Hill) Mohr. He grew up in the DeWitt area and later served in the Marine Corp for 3 years. He married Janet Eckelberg on October 21, 1962. They traveled to Oregon, Arizona and then on to Missouri. They eventually settled in Maquoketa to raise their family and Marvin began the career of a truckdriver that would last for more than 35 years.
Marvin enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, playing cards, watching Nascar and Westerns and loving on his Corgis. He will be remembered by telling "good old stories."
He is survived by his wife Janet Mohr; children, Vince (Shawn) Mohr, Monica (Trent) Willey, Doug (Linda) Mohr, Mary (Al) Benischek, and Bobby (Shara) Mohr; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Holtz; a brother, Fred Mohr; and sister-in-law Diana Mohr. He was preceded in death by his four brothers: Harold, Howard, Glenn, Gordon
