"My heartfelt sympathy to Anita and the Michael family. I cannot imagine the depth of your pain. May God comfort you and give you peace."
Many hearts are broken by the sudden loss of young man. My son Chad L. Michael, age 42, is gone. Born in Fort Dodge on May 30, 1980, and died on Monday, January 16, 2023.
Chad lived many years in the Fort Dodge Community, sharing his love of golf, D Jing, his work, family, friends, and their beloved dogs Theo and Hazel. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School and went on to become a licensed electrician. He worked for North Iowa Electric for 11 years, 2 years at Baker Electric in Fort Dodge and then took a position with the Baker Group in Des Moines until his death.
He is survived by his mother Anita Michael, nephew Averey Martin, brother (from another mother) Chris Grady, the love of his life Jayme Ekis, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Chad was preceded in death by his father Gary Michael, sister Holly Michael, and both sets of grandparents.
A wise grandson asked during a breakdown, NaNa, how many storms have you driven through in life? Snow, rain, hail, etc. and for the most part you keep driving, you might have to stop briefly along the way, then you keep on driving. Sometimes we don't get the why.....and don't forget talking about the storms with loved ones and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Harlow officiating.

"I hold close all the memories of those "kids" growing up and spending Summer days in my backyard. I love them all. Anita was an incredible mother and cared deeply about the wellness and safety of her kids, we'd watch Ali and Holly walk from house to house, making sure of their safe arrival from point A to point B and then we'd wave....a couple of Summer's I thought maybe Chad had moved in and everybody forgot to tell me! I would have gladly let him. He was a sweet soul, without malice and his grin will forever be etched into all our hearts. RIP Chad, with love. Squeeze Holly for us ?????"
"My siblings and I worked with Chad at Pizza Hut in the early 2000s. I remember Holly and Chad being very close and Holly often visiting him at work. Chad was always sweet to me. He had a great smile and laugh. I always enjoyed seeing him in passing and saying hi on my visits back to Fort Dodge. He will be missed. -Cindy Dees"
