In loving memory of

Lynna "Joan" (Evans) Edwards
February 22, 1936 - December 30, 2022

Lynna "Joan" (Evans) Edwards, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes on December 30, 2022. She was born in Washington on February 22, 1936, to Floyd Garrison and Anna Laura (Clark) Evans. She married James R. Edwards, August 8, 1970, and he passed away in August of 2015.

Joan was a 1954 graduate of Plainville High School and was class president. For many years, she was the Program Director for the Brunswick Laurel Lanes Bowling Alley in Washington, coaching and encouraging the local youth leagues. Afterward, she worked at Mason's Root Beer Stand, where she never met a coney she did not love. Upon her retirement, she found enjoyment in taking care of children.

Joan was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles, and never missed an opportunity to travel, especially to her beloved New Orleans for Cajun and Creole cuisine. It was commonly known that Joan was an enthusiastic Washington High School Boys and Girls Soccer fan. She attended all the games and was recognized for her support of the soccer programs with the Washington Soccer Super Fan Award.

Those who now mourn Joan's passing include her children: Jeannine (Fred) Resler of Washington; Iva (Dane) Ebler of Washington; Marianne Harner of Washington; Lori (Sam) Glover of Crawfordsville; Mike (Nidia) Edwards of Gulf Port, Mississippi; Steve (Kim) Edwards of Washington; and Rob Edwards of Washington. Joan was blessed with several grandchildren: Rachel Westermann; Eric Miller; Kasey Brooke Ellyson; Lyndsey Harner; Cole Harner; Joanna Young; Matthew Edwards; Nathaniel Edwards; DJ Edwards; Adrianne Edwards; and Kainyn Edwards. She leaves several great-grandchildren: Fletcher Harner; Charlie Harner; Lucy Harner; Lynna Allison; Junee Harner; Noah Ellyson; Eli Ellyson; Erica Miller; Kate Miller; and Calvin Edwards. Joan leaves her beloved canine companion of many years, Ruby.

Joan knew the sorrow that comes with loss with the passing of her parents, Floyd and Anna Laura Evans; her husband, James R. "Pappy" Edwards; brother, Dennis Evans; and a brother who died in infancy.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.edleemortuary.com

The staff of the Ed L. Lee Mortuary is honored to have been entrusted with Joan Edwards' arrangements.

"I loved my Momma, Joan. She was strong, resilient, kind and had unconditional love for all of her family. She was always there for me when I needed her. Always on my side. She and I had many years of traveling together and searching out the best of food and drink. She was also a good cook and taught me a lot in the kitchen. Her love for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren was undeniable, and they sure loved their Grammy! She was also loved by many in the community and will be greatly missed as life just won't be the same with out her. Rest In Peace Mom"

"One of Mom's friends in Tybee Island, Georgia, a reputed pirate, said it best - "She is a tough old gal." She is one of the great loves of my life and I was blessed to be her kid. Jeannine Melsheimer Resler"
