Betty Jean Randol
April 4, 1923 - December 30, 2022

Betty Jean Randol was born on April 4th, 1923 to John and Jesse (Honaker) Anderson in Dunlap, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Betty received her education from the rural country school in Dunlap. She graduated with the class of 1944 in Logan, Iowa. She went on to Normal school to become a teacher and she taught at the rural country school for 5 years.

Betty married Wayne Randol on May 29, 1949 in Nebraska and were blessed with the births of three sons: James, Rodney and Terry. The family made their home on the farm in rural Dow City. Betty was a teacher in her younger years and she also worked at Dubuque Packing later after working on the family farm until her and Wayne moved to Ricketts in 1986.

Betty was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a long-time ladies aid member and was very involved in her church. She was an avid quilt maker, making many quilts for World Relief and her grandchildren. Betty loved cooking for her family along with baking lots of tasty goodies for them when they came to visit. She also loved working in the garden and tending to the yard work.

Betty passed away on December 30, 2022 at the Dunlap Specialty Care in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 99 years, 8 months 27 days.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne Randol in 1987, her three sisters Ernestine Lambert, Vivian Detlefsen, Marilyn Jessen, and brother Robert Anderson. She is survived by her three sons: James (Rebecca) Randol of Dow City, Rodney Randol of Sioux City, and Terry Randol of Lake City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023 on Betty's 100th birthday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa
