Charles H. Wheat, 82, of Marquette and Eloy, Arizona, passed away Thursday evening, December 22, 2022, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living.
He was born February 7, 1940, in Evanston, IL, a son of the late Arthur and Teresa (Olson) Wheat. He was raised there and remained a resident of the northwest suburbs of the Chicago area for most of his life.
Charles worked in the automotive paint and parts industry and was the owner-operator of Wheat Automotive Paint and Parts for several years in Palatine, IL. Following the sale of the supply store, he worked in mobile home sales, repair work and real-estate appraising until his retirement in 2009.
Charles was an avid Chicago sports fan and enjoyed golf and participated in various golf leagues around the northwest Chicago suburbs.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Shanahan) Wheat of Marquette; sons, Scott (Jodette) Wheat of Batavia, IL and Brent (Celeste) Wheat of McHenry, IL; step-son, Timothy (Dede) Ciucci of Marquette; grandchildren, Sara & Emily Wheat, Lucas & Kyle Wheat; step-grandchildren, Rachel (Damien) Buczkowske and Kaitlin (John) Zurick; 3 great-grandchildren; former spouse, Sharon Wheat of Island Lake, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Arthur Wheat, Nancy Orozco and Elinor Mae Kaufman.
Honoring Charles' request, no services will be held.
