In loving memory of

Larry Justice
January 11, 1939 - December 2, 2022

Larry Gene, son of Kenneth and Katherine (Krogh) Justice, was born January 11, 1939, at Defiance, Iowa. At the age of two, he moved with his family to the present family farm east of Manilla. He attended country school for five years before going to school in Manilla where he graduated in 1957. Larry then served in the U.S. Navy as a boiler tender from 1958 to 1962.

On Dec. 30, 1960, Larry was united in marriage with Lillian M. Gunnlaugsson in Manilla. Larry farmed with his father until his death in 1972. He then operated the farm with his mother, until her passing in 1989 when Larry purchased the farm. Larry never really retired. In 2006, he turned over the operation to Denise with the help of Kenny. During his working years, Larry also worked with Gruhn Hybrid, Frank Boeck, Russ McMahon and as a meat inspector. Since 1997, he worked for the Aspinwall Coop as much as he could. For 15 years during their retirement, Larry and Lillian spent their winters in Arizona.

Larry was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3517 in Manning, American Legion Post 132 in Manilla, Manilla Rough Riders Saddle Club and the Midwest Old Iron Club. Throughout the years, Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a fan of all Iowa Hawkeyes teams. Larry followed the local car races, especially the Webb, Rohe and Monson teams, and his grandson Justin in Figure 8. International Harvester was his preferred tractor, and he enjoyed participating in the many local tractor rides, as well as driving his '57 Chevy in parades.

On Friday, December 2, 2022, Larry passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 22 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; son James Justice; great-grandson Owen Lingle; son-in-law Lyle "Critter" Christensen; sister Alta (Merlin) Nulle; brother-in-law Maynard Gunnlaugsson; future son-in-law Maverick Benton; nephew Kevin Nulle; and by Lillian's parents.
