James "Jim" B. Allan Jr., 83, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.
DUE TO THE FRIGID WEATHER CONDITIONS, military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood, IA. Private burial will be in the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Dream City Church Omaha (8433 W. Center Road Omaha, NE 68124). Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for James and his family.
OBITUARY
James Barth "Jim" Allan, Jr, 83, of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.
Jim, son of Anna (Polinchak) and James Allan Sr., was born on January 27, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA. He married Barbara Kamerer on September 2, 1961 in Bethel Park, PA. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Bonnie and Lori.
Jim graduated from Penn State University in 1961 with an Accounting degree. Afterwards he was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy, proudly serving until 1966. Jim also earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago (1966) and a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Theological Seminary (1983).
Jim had a strong faith and love for Jesus. He was an exceptional husband; Jim adored Barb! He loved being a father, papa, and a good friend to all who knew him. Jim was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and a voluminous note-taker. He enjoyed worship music, bicycling, and his dogs, Brindle and Bitsy.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and beloved Barbara, wife of 57 years. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (David) Sandoval of Florence, CO, and Lori (James) Evridge of Council Bluffs, IA; 6 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers: Rob Allan of CA and Gary (Molly) Allan of PA; and a host of many special friends.
