Jean (Orlando) Michaels

Penfield: November 23, 2022. Jean Michaels passed peacefully on November 23, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, Nick Michaels and her sister Marylou Riso. She is survived by daughters Cheryl (Frank) Serafine and Sandra Michaels, grandchildren Stacie (Jordan) Downes, Beth Resch, Aaron Resch, and Kathryn Resch, as well as great grandsons, nieces and nephews. She is also remembered fondly by friends of the family including her honorary daughter, Nancy Kowalczyk, and dear friend Kate.

Jean was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, She moved to Rochester, NY where she raised 2 children and welcomed grandchildren into her family. She lived in her Greece, NY residence for almost 60 years before making a new home in assisted living. She worked as a book keeper before and after raising her children, and was known for balancing the books to the penny.

During her life, Jean enjoyed her Japanese garden, which was the site of many Easter egg hunts, as well as shopping and dining out. She was happiest when she was in the company of a puppy and loved when therapy pets or her grand dogs came to visit.

The family wishes to thank the palliative care team at Strong Memorial Hospital and all those who cared for her in her later years.

Jean's life story will be celebrated, Sunday, November 27th, 1-5 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). Jean's funeral service will be celebrated, Monday, November 28th, 11 AM at the funeral home. Her entombment in Riverside Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Rochester Animal Services, 184 Verona St., Rochester, NY 14608 in Jean's memory.

"Dear Sandy & Cheryl, I?m just seeing your sweet mom?s obit now and am so sad I didn?t get to attend her wake and give you all a hug. She was my favorite, and I looked forward to you girls visits to see her! You honored her well and pleased the Lord in doing so. I will always remember her eye brows,turban,go-go boots,love of dogs and ginger ale! Thank you for loving(and persevering with)her so well! My sincere sympathies, Nina Tryka Ps.138:8"

"Jean was a positive force in this world and had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh to match. She taught us that every job was important and respected and we all had to pitch in to help. Her love of fun was infectious and she taught me to always add a pinch of sugar to my tuna salad!"
