Evelyn J. Duryea
Evelyn J. Duryea, 98, of Canton, passed away, Saturday, November 19,2022, at Red Oak Estates in Canton.
She was born on October 28, 1924, in Canton, to John and Helen (Hand) Blakesmith. They preceded her in death along with three sisters, Marilyn Norville, Donna Farrell, and Lila Wilcoxen
She married Robert G. Duryea in Carthage, Illinois on March 23, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2016.
She is survived by three children, Frank (Gloria) Duryea of Hanna City, Kathy (Chuck) Henseler of Canton, and Sarah (Brad) Fairfield of Gibson City, one brother, Jack (Yvonne) Blakesmith, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Evelyn worked as a nurse for Dr. Harrison Putman in Canton for several years. For many years she attended First Baptist Church in Canton. She later attended Temple Baptist Church and then Covenant Community Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Most of all Evelyn loved spending time with all of her family.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 23,2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
