Robert "Bob" Smith
Canton - Robert "Bob" Smith, 74, of Canton, Passed away, Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born on October 20, 1948, in Dyess Arkansas, to Jordan James and Clara Bell (Nichols) Smith. They preceded him in death along with three brothers, Ronald Wayne, Edward Ray, and Roy Lee Smith. Robert is survived by his wife Toni (Allen), whom he married in 1975. Also surviving are two children, Gabriel Smith of Canton, and Emberly Smith of Peoria, and one sister-in-law Margie Smith. Robert loved his family and delighted in their company and accomplishments. He especially appreciated their help in the face of more recent health challenges. He served as an X-ray technician in Vietnam, for the United States Army 24th Medivac Unit. He returned home in 1969. He loved the Lord, attending and serving at Brunswick Community Church for many years. He worked at Caterpillar in the I.T. Department for 40 years retiring in 2009. He had a lifelong interest in cars, his other interest included bowling, clowning, ventriloquism, and hunting.
He focused on people with an eye to meeting needs, and a friendly chat. His recent experience on the Greater Peoria Honor Flight to Washington D.C. was an unforgettable highlight with his daughter. We his family have the hope of heaven that Jesus gives and know we will see him again. We are trusting the Lord's grace to carry us through the loss of our beloved dad and husband of 47 years.
