In loving memory of

MARY E. FOYE
October 8, 1930 - November 12, 2022

Mary E. Foye, 92, of Marquette, died Saturday evening, November 12, 2022 at Mill Creek Memory Care in the presence of her loving family and under the care of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Mary was born on October 8, 1930 in Marquette Township, a daughter of the late Andrew and Matrona Koval and was a lifelong Marquette resident. She graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in 1948.

The Monday after she graduated, Mary began a four year employment with Michigan Mutual Liability. She married Edward J. Foye, Jr. on November 8, 1952 in the old St. Michael Catholic Church.

Ed and Mary were active members of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and together with their good friends, Mary and Howard Houlmont, were co-founders of the Bingo program which operated in the parish for many years. Mary currently was a member of St. Peter Cathedral and the Superior Friendship Quilting group which is composed of several women enjoying one another's company while sharing their knowledge and skill in quilting.

In her free time, Mary was an avid walker. During retirement, she and her late husband, Ed, traveled throughout the world together. She was a long time member of the Marquette Golf and Country Club, was a bridge player, belonged to the Marquette Couple's Bowling League, was a member of the women of Marquette Elks Lodge # 405.

She was a loving and devoted mother and proud grandmother. Survivors include four children, Deacon Thomas (Denise) Foye of Marquette, Patricia Ann (Don) Clark of Haslett, MI, James (DeAnne White) Foye of Marquette, Kathryn Ann (Michael) Friske of South Lake, TX; six grandchildren, Christopher (Catie) Foye, Michael (Christy) Foye, Zachary (Wanda) Friske, Tyler Friske, M.D, Matthew (Morgan) Friske, and Sarah Friske; 3 great grandchildren, Rowan Foye, Raegan Foye and Everett Friske and one expected great grandchild. Preceding her in death besides her parents was an infant daughter, Mary Foye and a brother, Leo Koval.

The Foye family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 in the Bishop's Room of St. Peter Cathedral beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12 noon in the church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating and assisted by Deacon Gregg St. John and Deacon Scott Jamieson. Burial will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Mary's grandsons and a great grandson will act as her escorts.
