In loving memory of

David Baker
February 11, 1955 - November 12, 2022

David Baker, age 67, of Hannibal, formerly of Quincy, died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 4:42 am in Hannibal Regional Hospital.

David was born February 11, 1955 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Walter Lee and Betty Hardin Baker.

David attended Quincy High School. He had worked as an exterminator at Terminix and at O'Donnell Pest Control in Quincy. He attended The Crossing on 9th Street in Quincy and later at the Hannibal location. David loved music of all kinds and enjoyed singing karaoke in his younger days. Secret Agent Man and House of The Rising Sun were his favorites to sing. He learned to play guitar at the age of four! Wipe Out was the first song he learned to play. David loved the St. Louis Cardinals and wore his uncle Randy's favorite jacket, weather permitting. When he lived in Quincy, David would always volunteer to ring the bell for the Salvation Army during the holidays and enjoyed putting together the Christmas shoe boxes for local churches.

David never knew a stranger. He loved most people and they loved him. He was often seen riding around Hannibal on his red scooter he received from Northeast Independent Living Services. This agency allowed him to live independently the last two years of his life. David had great love for his in home aides and for the nurses who helped him organize his medications. Lesa kept his apartment so incredibly clean and he was so proud of it.

David didn't have a place of his own until his later years. After his divorce, he lived with his parents until they passed away. He finally found himself, and God, and was able to maintain his independence. He had some setbacks in life, but with help and encouragement from his loving aunts, he was able to overcome them all.

Survivors include: two daughters, Alicia and Dana; a sister, Mary Jane Jacobs; nieces and nephew, Kimberly Tucker, Aaron Tucker, and Angel McKinney; four aunts, Penny Snider, Marie (Donald) Lawless, Donna (Wayne) Weed, and Barbara (Dale) Peterson; grandchildren and many cousins and other relatives.

David was preceded in death by: his parents, Betty and Walt Baker; grandparents, Sterling and Eva Hardin; a sister and brother in law, Teresa and Art Tucker; an uncle, Randy Snider; and an infant daughter, Allie.
