Mary Mason
September 13, 1941 - November 10, 2022

Mary L. Mason, age 81, of Quincy, died Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 7:18 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Mary was born September 13, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ed and Jane Hemmelgarn Partyka. She married Dennis H. Mason on November 26, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois.

She worked as an operator in Chicago and Sacramento, CA areas. Once her children were grown up, she went back to school and received her LPN license at the age of 48. She worked as an LPN for Good Samaritan Home, Illinois Veteran's Home and at Camp Callahan.

Mary loved to cook and bake for her family, riding along with her friends to the Gambling Boats, and was always looking to help others. She had an open home for the Home-Stay Program. She housed children from Mexico, Japan, Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Dennis H. (Gretchen) Mason, Jr., and Doug H. (Jerrilyn) Mason; a daughter, Deanna (Darin) Lefringhouse; eight grandchildren, Katie Zbornak, Sarah and Emily Mason, Josh, Jarod, Shawn and Shannon Ensley, and Ryne Mason; a brother, Ed (Martha) Partyka; and two sisters, Dorothy Madura, and Judy Keefe.

In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Nancy Gitzinger.

Memorial Mass: 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at All Faith's Chapel in the Illinois Veteran's Home with Fr. Zach Edgar officiating.

There will be a visitation from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Chapel.

Inurnment: Sunset Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.
