David B. Kerkhoff
March 5, 1938 - November 10, 2022

David Bernard Kerkhoff, son of Alphons and Frances (Bluml) Kerkhoff was born March 5, 1938 on the family farm south of Templeton in Carroll County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. He attended school at Sacred Heart, graduating with the class of 1955.

On February 7, 1959, Dave was united in marriage with Delores Wiskus at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Jacqueline. In 1959, Dave enlisted in the United States National Guard where he served until 1967. Following his brother's footsteps, he attended Reisch Auctioneering School in Mason City in March of 1959. After graduating there, he joined his brother Meryl and two nephews, Marty and Keith as a successful auctioneer with Kerkhoff Auction Service.

Dave went into farming full time with his dad south of Templeton on the family farm where he enjoyed farming his whole life. He looked forward each spring to planting and each fall to harvesting his crops. Dave never retired, he liked to keep himself busy.

In their younger years, Dave and Dee enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter with neighbors and friends in the beautiful Iowa snow. They enjoyed an occasional vacation get away with friends to places they'd not seen before. They also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, visiting and having coffee at the Corner Station. Dave was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, the Men's Choir, and Knights of Columbus.

Dave's health started to fail in October and he died on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 84 years, 8 months and 5 days of age.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Alphons and Frances Kerkhoff; brothers: Orville Kerkhoff and Meryl and wife Imelda Kerkhoff; sister: Joan and husband Francis Tunink; brothers-in-law, James Masching, Harold Nielsen, Charles Wiskus, Gene Brincks, James Kracht, and Richard Wiskus.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Delores Kerkhoff of Templeton; daughter, Jacqueline and husband Russell Burdette of Carroll; brother, Frank Kerkhoff and wife Carole of Red Oak; sister, Joyce Masching of Carroll; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kerkhoff of Audubon, Florine Nielsen of Carroll, Cleo Wiskus of Exira, Mary Ann Brincks of Carroll, Janice Kracht of Coon Rapids, and Joan Wiskus of Coon Rapids; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
