In loving memory of

William E. "Bill" Baresel
July 30, 1933 - November 10, 2022

William E. "Bill" Baresel, 89, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, November 10, 2022, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, November 14, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Bridgeport Cemetery, Rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

William Earl Baresel was born on July 30, 1933 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lewis Earl and Evelyn (Isbell) Baresel. He grew up attending Andrew Schools and served his country in the U.S. Army with time spent as an engineer stationed in Germany. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home to Iowa. He married Janice M. Ostert on July 14, 1957 in Maquoketa, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Jerry, Pam, Brenda, and Jodi.

"Bill" had first worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa as a repairman for over 15 years. He then farmed for the Cornelius family for two years, and lastly retired in 2000 after 20 years from Red Jacket in Davenport where he worked as a die cast machinist and forklift operator.

"Bill" was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and playing cards, especially Euchre.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Janice Baresel of Maquoketa, IA; children, Jerry (and fiancé Lori Palmer) Baresel of Andrew, IA, Pam Burckart of Maquoketa, IA, and Brenda (Ken) Tranel of Cuba City, WI; a son-in-law, Rodney Dodds of Spragueville, IA; a brother, James "Jim" (Lois) Baresel of Clinton, IA; 6 grandchildren, Crystal, Cayla, Chad, Brandon, Alisha and Andrew; and 2 great-grandchildren, Claire and Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jodi Dodds, sister Evelyn Shimanek, and a son-in-law Bruce Heuer.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a William E. "Bill" Baresel memorial fund has been established.
