Constance Patricia "Connie" Higgins, age 82, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 12:50 am in Quincy Healthcare and Senior Living.

Connie was born December 29, 1939 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Cecil H. and Neva G. McGlaughlin Saylor. She married Rondal Gene Higgins on August 22, 1958 at Union United Methodist Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2014.

Connie was a graduate of Central High School in Camp Point, Illinois. She went back to school and received an associates degree from John Wood Community College, at the age of 54. Connie ran a licensed day care out of her home for 34 years. She was an early advocate for children's safety and was a pioneer for licensed day care in the state of Illinois.

Connie was devoted to her family and her greatest joy in life was found spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Connie enjoyed square dancing, league bowling, and painting. She was a member of the South Side Boat Club, and she enjoyed camping trips with her family. Connie also liked to play bingo, and was considered a bingo ace.

Survivors include four children, Victoria (Kent) McClain of Quincy, Thomas (Lee Woodfin) Higgins of Solomons, MD, Tammy (Terry) Phillips of Parker, CO, and Curtis (Renee) Higgins of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Lani) Phillips, Carrie (Ronnie) Buswell, Sarah (Brandon) Meehan, Betsy (Kevin) Terwelp, Michael Phillips, Brandon (Nichole) Phillips, Grant Higgins, and Gavin Higgins; 16 great-grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Halia, Shawn, Ryan and Matthew Phillips, Monique Phillips, Maria Phillips, Micheal Sutton, Haven Phillips, Collin, Reese, Finley and Julia Meehan, and Hannah, Hailey and Hunter Terwelp; a brother, Leslie (Mary) Saylor, of Hampton, VA; three sisters, Carmilitia (Wayne) Hempelman of Quincy, Joyce Gore of Clayton, IL, and Donna Wilson of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Rondal, Connie was preceded in death by her parents, and a twin brother, Carl Patrick Saylor, in infancy.

Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday November 12, 2022 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Services: 11:00 am on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Marlin Rempfer officiating.

Inurnment: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
