Charline Ruth Petersen
January 12, 1923 - October 31, 2022

Charline R. Petersen, 99, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, October 31, 2022, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa.

Charline Ruth Bailey was born on January 12, 1923 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Charles Linius and Margaret C. (Klemme) Bailey. She was educated in country schools in Clinton County. She married Alvin F. Petersen on October 30, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2006.

Charline farmed with her husband in rural Maquoketa for many years, and later worked at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa as a Nurse's Aide.

Charline was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Joinerville Boat Club, and the Jackson County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, listening to country music, camping, and playing cards, especially Euchre.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Gary (Joan) Petersen of Maquoketa, IA, and Wayne (Patricia) Petersen of Maquoketa, IA; son-in-law, Ken Keltner of Overland Park, KS; sister, Catherine Bailey of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, Michelle Burkey, Bradley (Karen) Petersen, Jeremy (Jenny) Simmons, Eric Petersen, Greg (Kathryn) Petersen, and Kara (Adam) Kraxberger; and 6 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Remington, Abby, Aiden, Isaac, and Rachel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, daughter Judy Keltner, brothers Robert, Frank and Owen Bailey, sisters Marian Todd and Maxine Jones, and a half-sister, Jennie Smith.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Charline R. Petersen memorial fund has been established.
