Timothy E. "Tim" Mattingly
March 20, 1938 - October 29, 2022

Timothy E. "Tim" Mattingly, 84, passed away October 29, 2022. He was born in Loogootee on March 20, 1938, to John E. and Mary B. (Kavanaugh) Mattingly. He married Mary Eleanor (Tennis) Mattingly on September 26, 1959, and she survives.

Tim was a 1956 graduate of Montgomery High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Tool and Die from Allied Tech City College in Chicago, Illinois. He was a veteran who served his country honorably in the United States Army. Tim was a retired farmer who enjoyed fishing. He was an avid fan of all sports - especially IU Basketball and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Tim was a devoted family man who was always the life of his family's gatherings. He was also a dog lover with several canine companions who went everywhere with him.

Those who mourn Tim's passing include his wife, Mary Eleanor Mattingly; and sisters, Rita Elliott of Loogootee and Patricia Tow of Fishers. He also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews.

During his life, Tim mourned the loss of his parents, John and Mary Mattingly; sisters: Veronica "Bonnie" Tennis; Mary Alma Melton; Beatrice Sheets; Dorothy Jean Ellis; Alberta Turner; and brothers: Norbert Mattingly; John Mattingly; Gerald Mattingly; Francis "Frank" Mattingly; James "Pete" Mattingly; Joe Mattingly; and infant sisters: Doris Ann Mattingly and Katherine Agnes Mattingly. Additionally, Tim was preceded in death by brothers-in-law: Kenneth Tennis and Richard J. Tennis; and great-nephew, Francis W. Tennis.

Visitation for Timothy E. Mattingly will be 4:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Timothy E. Mattingly, 11:00 am, Friday, November 4, 2022, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery. The Washington American Legion and VFW will accord military honors at the gravesite.
