In loving memory of

James Virgil Evrard
July 24, 1944 - October 10, 2022

James "Jim" Virgil Evrard, 78, passed away at his residence during the evening of October 10, 2022. He was born in Perry County, Indiana, July 24, 1944, to Edward and Evelyn (Long) Evrard. On September 6, 1986, James married Janice Marie (O'Connor) Evrard and she survives.

Jim grew up in Holland, Indiana, and was a graduate of Holland High School and Oakland City University. He taught at Perry Central and Otwell High Schools. Later, Jim was the owner/operator of Mary's Furniture in Washington, the Washington Furniture Mart and the Princeton Furniture Mart. He retired in 2012.

Jim was a man of many interests --he loved gardening and landscaping, liked to go fishing and to care for the several types of freshwater fish in his aquariums. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and never turned down a bowl of ice cream. Jim was a devoted family man and was happiest when spending time with his family and his canine companions, Mo and Buddy.

Those who mourn Jim's passing include his wife, Janice; and children: Mandy Rose (Kevin Michael) Evrard-Duby of Buckeye, Arizona; and Clint Nathaniel Evrard of New Albany, Indiana.

Jim was blessed with eight grandchildren: Cayty; Natalie; Brianne; Owen; Korrin; Anden; Logan; Liam James-Avery (who is scheduled to arrive in February 2023), and one great granddaughter, Everleigh Rose. Additionally, Jim leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. He leaves two sisters, Ina Jo (Wayne) Thompson of Chandler, Indiana and Clara Mae Evrard of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Jim knew the sorrow of losing loved ones with the passing of his parents, Edward and Evelyn Evrard; his brother, Estil E. Evrard; and three sisters: Mary Ella (Harold) Ermert; Ruth Ann (Charles) Manion; and Clara Mae (Don) Blesch.
