Larry M. Junkins, 73, of Toronto, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Unity Point St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date. At Peace Cremation Services have been provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.
Larry Michael Junkins was born on November 7, 1948, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Maurice and Gladys (McCann) Junkins. He grew up in Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls High School. He married Jenifer Flauding on October 3, 1990, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Larry had worked as a boat mechanic for many years mainly with Kennedy Marine in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Larry was of the Catholic faith. He was very involved with the the City of Toronto proudly serving 10 years as their mayor. He loved going to the races and boating. Larry's favorite enjoyment in life were cars! He loved them! His love for cars started as a young boy and it continued through his adult life leading him on many car cruises and becoming a member of the Corando Car Club in Maquoketa. Larry loved life and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, knew he had the gift to gab! He would talk to anyone and knew no stranger.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jenifer Junkins of Toronto, IA; children, Danny Junkins of Madison, CT, Jamie Junkins of Cedar Rapids, IA, Karie DiSette of Littleton, CO, and Christina Omer of Davenport IA; a brother Bob Junkins of Waterloo, IA; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; many, many friends and his special friend, his dog, little Hiedi girl. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother David.
