Patricia Ann Backhaus
December 19, 1935 - September 30, 2022

Patricia Ann (Munson) Backhaus was born to Ronald and Dorothe (Littleton) Munson on December 19, 1935 in Kirkman, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. In 1941, she moved to Denison where she received her education at the Denison Public Schools.

On June 29, 1952, Patricia was united in marriage to Fred Backhaus. Three children were born to this union: Ron, Lynn, and Andrea. She became a member of United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa by transfer.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, craft painting, ceramics, playing bridge, and volunteer work. She loved her time given to teaching Sunday School for 25 years and being Sunday School Superintendent for 3 years. Above All, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren more than anything.

Patricia passed away, with her son by her side, on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Wexford Place Assisted Living and Memory Care in Kansas City, Missouri, attaining the age of 86 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Backhaus Braeker and her parents.

Left to cherish her memory, her son, Ron Backhaus and his wife Kathie of Smithville, Missouri; daughter, Andrea and her husband J.R. Pauley of Denison; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Lyle "Butch" Munson and his wife Marlene of Denison and James Munson and his wife Audrey of Bauxite, Arkansas; other relatives and friends.

Visitation with family greeting friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. Private Family Burial will be in the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Wexford Place Assisted Living and Memory Care in Kansas City, Missouri.
