Joan McGee Stader
December 1, 1931 - September 29, 2022

Joan McGee Stader, 90, of Washington, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Envive Healthcare in Sullivan, Indiana. She was born in Clay County, Illinois, on December 1, 1931, the daughter of Richard and Anna (Carter) McGee. She married Billie Robert Stader on December 21, 1957, becoming a dedicated Navy wife.

She had been employed in the secretarial field having positions in the North Clay High School Agriculture Department; Clay County Farm Bureau; Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Decatur, Illinois; Walnut Street IGA in Washington, Indiana; Bloomfield IGA in Bloomfield, Indiana; First Christian Church and Faith Christian Church, both in Bloomfield, Indiana.

Joan was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was awarded the Kiwanis Church Person of the Year in 1988 for her work with Youth; Adult Sunday School teacher; choir member and assisting with funeral dinners.

She is survived by her son, John Michael (Shelby Cash) Stader of Washington, Indiana; daughter, Susan (S. Paul) Myers of Sullivan, Indiana; grandchildren: Nicole (Russell) Smith of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Lindsey (Bill) Garner of Milton, Florida; Adam (Ashlee) Myers of Sullivan, Indiana; and Michael Paul Stader of Washington, Indiana. There are six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, she leaves two brothers: Richard (Lois) McGee of Holyton, Illinois, and Stanley (Lorraine) McGee of Dongola, Illinois.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Anna McGee; her husband, Billie Robert Stader; her brother, Jesse McGee of Louisville, Illinois; her sister, Mary Lou Moreland and husband, Donald of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Heather Stader of Milton, Florida; and daughter-in-law, Kim Stader of Lake Worth, Florida.

Visitation for Joan McGee Stader will be 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm EST, October 3, 2022, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the visitation, beginning at 7:00 pm. Pastor S. Paul Myers will officiate.

Burial will be at 10:00 am EST, October 4, 2022, at the Scotland Cemetery in Scotland, Indiana.
