Bonnie (Bonita) Lynn Bisser (75) passed away on Friday, September 23rd, 2022 at Honor Health Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ. Loving wife of Robert (Bob) F. Bisser with whom she shared 55 amazing years of marriage. Mother to Brad (Lori) Bisser of Indianapolis, IN; David (Valentina) Bisser of Phoenix, AZ; Jennifer (Ruben) Obregon of Austin, TX.
Born in Chicago, IL, grew up in Park Ridge, IL, she was the daughter of Robert L. & Charlotte C. Roberts. An accomplished cellist, she travelled nationally with a faith-based orchestra and chorale, The Spurlows, entertaining on high school and college campuses in the early 1960s. While attending the University of Iowa, she met the love of her life in 1966 on a blind date. In the intervening years, she cherished the opportunity to raise her family as a loving mother & homemaker. From 1990, she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Ophthalmology Department at Quincy Clinic for seven years. She graduated from Quincy University in 1999.
Bonnie's great love (besides Bob and her family) was spending time in her garden nurturing her flowers, growing new varieties and developing her flower arrangement skills. Having provided flowers for businesses and the altars of several churches in Quincy, she was inspired to create and share beauty with the world by growing and arranging flowers as the owner of Bonnie's Garden Blooms for 11 years in the early 2000's. She brought floral joy to many private clients and was a regular vendor at the Quincy Farmer's Market.
She followed her passions through being a dedicated supporter of Right to Life in Illinois. Since moving to New Mexico's capital city, she and Bob educated Santa Fe visitors through the Bienvenidos Welcome Organization. An active and honored member of the PEO - an international women's educational support organization - of Quincy, IL & Santa Fe, NM she held numerous and varied leadership positions over 20+ years.
Bonnie was an avid world traveler, having visited countries in North and South America, Asia / Middle East, North Africa, Australia/New Zealand and Europe (basically everywhere except Antarctica, because she wouldn't let Bob go there!).
She is survived by her husband and three children, their spouses and eight grandchildren: Andrew, Nicholas and Margeaux Bisser of Indianapolis, IN; Natalya and Amelia Bisser of Phoenix, AZ; and Joaquin, Isabella Coco and Olivia Obregon of Austin, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father and mother, and her brother Albert Roberts of Highland, IN.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Santa Fe, NM at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. We invite guests to bring any photos or notes with special memories of Bonnie.
