July 3, 1943 - September 25, 2022

David O'Leary, 79, of Badger died Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1st at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Judy, children David (Molly) O'Leary of Waukee, James (Janna) O'Leary of Madrid, Kellie (Jeff) Orres of Fort Dodge, grandchildren Bradi, Gabby "Suzie", Connor, James, Ronnie, great-grandson Sullivan, siblings Mary (Bill) Woehl, Colleen (Hugh) Spellman, Denny (Bonnie) O'Leary, Jeanne (Dennis) Woolman, Joan O'Leary, and Julie (Rich) Minikis, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lorraine (Mallinger) O'Leary and brother Tim O'Leary.

David was born July 3, 1943, in Fort Dodge. He is a 1961 graduate of Saint Edmond High School. On June 27, 1964, David was united in marriage to Judy Cook. They made Fort Dodge their home before moving to Badger in 1990. For over 40 years, Dave owned and operated Hawkeye Painting.
A big family man, Dave's grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved to care for his acreage and had an incredible work ethic.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
