Sharon Perkins, 81, of Randolph, IA passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern, IA with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern is caring for Sherry and her family.

Sharon Lee Perkins, 81 of Randolph, IA, passed away September 22, 2022 at the Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor, IA.
Sharon was born on February 27, 1941 in Red Oak, IA to Robert R. and Helen Glee (Grindle) Blunt. She was the oldest of three children. She started kindergarten in a one room schoolhouse, attended Randolph grade school for a year and then moved to the Strahan, IA area where she spent her remaining school years, Following graduation in 1958, she moved to an apartment in Shenandoah, IA where she took a job with the Earl May Seed and Nursery Company, as a secretary.
On April 1, 1960, at the home of her parents at Strahan, she was united in marriage to Claude Lewis Perkins. They resided on a farm northwest of Shenandoah until that fall when they moved to Livermore, CO, where Claude worked on a cattle ranch his father managed. Missing the Iowa cornfields, they returned to Iowa in 1962. In 1966 they moved to the Randolph area and have resided in this area ever since. They were married 58 years and welcomed four children to their home.
Sherry, as she preferred to be called, loved to sew, garden (flowers and vegetables), do crafts, refinish furniture, cook, go antiquing, research family genealogy, make quilts, and was an avid reader. She organized three family cookbooks which were printed for family members and a cookbook for the Randolph Methodist Church. Sherry also co-authored the 130th Anniversary Randolph Cookbook as well as the Sidney Rodeo and Fremont County Historical Cookbook. She organized the quilt and craft shows which were held for several years at the Methodist Church in Randolph. She served on the Randolph Cemetery Board, the Randolph Library Board, the board of the Fremont County Historical Society, the committee for the Randolph Depot Museum, and was tour organizer for the Ferrel House Museum in Randolph. For twenty years, she operated Perkins Upholstery and then was appointed in 1993 to the position of Postmaster at the Randolph Post Office. She served sixteen years in that capacity before retiring in 2009.
Her family was most important to her and she was always available to help with room parties at school, attend sports events, school plays, Little League baseball games or prepare food for school, church and 4-H functions. Many family and holiday dinners and family brunches found their way to her table.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Claude in 2018; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Perkins; an infant sister and sister Pam Meadows; and granddaughter, Alexis.
Surviving are her sons, Tracy L. Perkins of Atlantic, IA, Jim R. Perkins of Tabor, IA; daughter Debbie J. Lesher (Mike) of Tabor, and son Bill J. Perkins (Andrea) of Cedar Rapids, IA; 9 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother Larry Blunt of Waco, TX; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
