Matthew Thomas Armstrong

Matthew Thomas Armstrong passed away on September 19, 2022, joining his late mother, Mary Armstrong in peaceful rest. Matt is survived by his father, Don Armstrong; his stepmother, Kathy Armstrong; his best friend and brother, Jim Armstrong; sister-in-law Eileen Armstrong; nephew, Matthew Armstrong; nieces, Kierstyn Schmid and Lauren Armstrong; aunt, Sandra Thomson; uncle, Dr. Brendan Thomson; stepbrothers, Skip Paal and Ryan Paal and their families; stepsister Elizabeth Paal Goss and her family; and loving cousins Brendan, Ryan, and Michael Thomson.
Matt resided with his family in London for approximately 10 years, graduating from grammar school and high school from The American School of London. Matt participated on the wrestling team at the American School, engaging and winning tournaments across the UK and the European continent.
Matt's infectious personality and endearing disposition gave him a unique ability to deeply touch all of those he came to know. His determination and spirit allowed him to overcome adversity throughout his later years and to communicate in new spiritual ways.
In addition to wrestling, Matt deeply enjoyed fly fishing for trout with his brother, joining his family at Penn State Football games, and hanging with friends.
Viewing will be held from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, with a eulogy sharing at 5:00PM. Friday, September 23 2022 at Hansen Mortuary at 8314 N. 7th Street Phoenix, AZ. Funeral mass will be at 8:30AM on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Brophy Chapel 4701 N. Central Phoenix, AZ, followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery at 2033 N. 48th Street Phoenix, AZ.
