Paul J. Schreck, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Marian Home. He spent his last days surrounded by his family and died peacefully with them by his side.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, September 12th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Paul J. Schreck was born on March 23, 1936, in Carroll, IA where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1955. On December 30, 1959, he was united in marriage to Lois Vrooman at St. Joseph Church in Carroll. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Paul worked in the grocery store business including Safeway, Hinky Dinky, and Randalls. He retired in 2001 after 27 years of service with Randalls. Paul was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Noon Lions Club. He was an active EMHC to Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Lois of Fort Dodge, daughter Mary Buska and her husband Joseph of Edina, MN, son Alan Schreck and his wife Cheryl of Granbury, TX, son Jeff Schreck and his wife Wendy of Cambridge, IA, daughter Melissa Messerly and her husband Scott of Fort Dodge, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers James Schreck of Sioux City, William Schreck of Mondamin, sisters Elaine Nieland of Carroll, Betty Schwery of Vail and Connie Bruner of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Rose (Thein) Schreck, brothers Gerald Schreck and Robert Schreck, and sisters Mary Rose Nagl and JoAnn LeRiger.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
