Denise Rae Spahr (Shepherd) 60, of Bellevue, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday September 6th, 2022 at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha.
Denise was born September 25th 1961 in Nevada, Iowa to Donald and Donna Shepherd, and was raised there. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1980. She was married to her college sweetheart and love of her life, Jeffrey Thomas Spahr, on September 1st 1984 and graduated from Northern Iowa University in Cedar Falls, Iowa on December 19th 1985. During their marriage they went on to have 4 children (Amanda, Danielle, Samuel and Timothy). Denise worked her dream job as a librarian for 1 year, she primarily worked as a part time teacher, and eventually as full-time home educator in 1997 and finishing upon the graduation of her youngest son in 2019.
Throughout her life, Denise enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, painting, and spending time with family and friends. Denise volunteered 10 years with Teen Serve Omaha and was a co-director of Teen Serve for 3 years. Denise always enjoyed church small groups and woman's bible study as someone who cared deeply for the Word of God and praying for others.
Denise was hospitalized at University of Nebraska Medical Center on August 26th 2022, and was later diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma on the following Wednesday. On Tuesday September 6th Denise passed away in the presence of family to be with Lord Jesus.
Preceding Denise in death were her father and mother, Donald Shepherd (USMC) and Donna Shepherd; infant grandchild Briar; half-brother Donnie Shepherd.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Jeffrey Spahr of Bellevue, Nebraska; daughter Amanda Spahr of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Danielle Mackey and husband Jordan of Omaha, Nebraska; son Samuel Spahr (USMC); son Timothy Spahr of Omaha, Nebraska; half-sister Deb Yakel of Marshalltown, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and one grandchild on the way.

SERVICES 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
