Lorraine V. Slater, 96, of Marquette, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Norlite Nursing Center surrounded by her family and under the care of Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.
She was born July 20, 1926, in Marquette, a daughter of the late Charles and Matilda (Beaudette) Swenor and was a 1944 graduate of Bishop Baraga High School.
Lorraine married Clyde E. Slater on September 19, 1959 in Ralston, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2006.
She worked in packaging at the Campbell Soup Company and as an assembly line worker at ATT Telephone Company.
Lorraine returned to Marquette in 1991. She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and enjoyed BINGO, puzzles, walking and swimming.
She is survived by her children, Duane Gensheimer of Marquette, Jody (Dave) Gordon of Griswold, IA, Peter Gensheimer of Lincoln, NE and Shawn Slater of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Wendy Goodreau, Brenda Gensheimer and Robert Gensheimer; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Dylan and Jarred Gensheimer; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 9 siblings.
Honoring Lorraine's wishes, no services will be held.
