Randall "Deke" Bennett
July 23, 1951 - August 27, 2022

Randall "Deke" Bennett, age 71, of Quincy, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 7:37 p.m.

Deke was born July 23, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Russell and Lois Rench Bennett. He married Glenda Nokes on August 5, 1972 in Central Baptist Church in Quincy. She survives.

Deke was a graduate of Unity High School in Mendon, IL. He had been employed by Moorman Manufacturing for 42 years, primarily as a scale operator.

In his spare time, Deke enjoyed league bowling and coin collecting. He was also a classic car enthusiast. Deke spent time growing and tending vegetables in his garden, that he would share with family and friends. Deke also liked to travel, especially to the ocean where he relaxed on the beach and went deep sea fishing. Deke could always be found at Starbucks on a daily basis. Most of all, Deke adored his children, grandchildren, and any "pups" that happened to cross his path.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children: Jeff Bennett of Ewing, MO; Robbie Tallman of Canton, MO; Darla (Stan) Peters of Quincy; Brian (Brandon Ross) Tallman of Quincy; and Heather Tallman of Quincy; six grandchildren: Nathan (Joanie) Bennett, Mathew (Ashlynn) Bennett, Brianna Peters, Lauren (Tim) Kiernan, Brynen Tallman, and Corrin (Chris) Kaffenberger; a sister, Jean Nebe of Quincy; a brother, Larry Bennett of Quincy; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, Dave and Elaine Nokes of Collinsville, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, including: Dan Bennett, Theresa Ferguson, Ronnie Cramer, and Nicole, (Sabri) Barrak.

Deke was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Cramer and her husband Richard; a niece, Sheila Watson; a nephew, Richie Cramer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and LaVerna Forbes; a brother-in-law, Terry Nokes; and two precious dogs, Layla and Thunder.

Services: 6:00 pm Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Rains officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Thursday September 1, 2022 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

Burial: Following the service on Thursday, Deke will be cremated, as per his wishes, with no inurnment planned at this time.

"Uncle Deke was the best, most genuine, person I?ve ever had the pleasure to call uncle Deke . Even though he was never my blood uncle he & Aunt Glenda were always family to me.
