David C. Lippens, 74, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 16, 2022, at home.
A funeral mass celebrating his life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, where a 6:30 P.M. Vigil Service will be held. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa, with military honors.
David Charles Lippens was born on June 10, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa, to John Leo and Dorothy June (Bade) Lippens. David grew up in the Charlotte area and graduated from Northeast High School in 1966. He then entered the military and served his country in the U.S. Army for 17 years, receiving an honorable discharge. He married Linda Sue Presson on December 8, 1973 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
David had worked as an over the road truck driver for several companies, most recently with Amhof Trucking, retiring earlier this year.
David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. He loved old tractors, tractor pulls, collecting old model cars, and pies, especially cherry pies! In his earlier years he and Linda enjoyed going on motorcycle rides.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda Lippens of Maquoketa, IA; children, David (Nikki) Lippens of Leavenworth, KS, and Katey Lippens of Clinton, IA; 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and a sister, Carol (Jeff) Smith of West Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Phillip Lippens, and a sister MaryAnn.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a David C. Lippens memorial fund has been established.
