"My Big Brother Bart, a unique and rare individual. I always called him Big Brother and he called me Little Brother. It was something only we had shared together. After Dad passed, Bart assumed the role of surrogate father for Barbara and me even though he was raising a family of his own. More than once he straightened me out through my rebellious teenage years. He was always gentle in his talks with me. I remember like it was yesterday going to the Red Wings games with Bart and Nancy and seeing the Rochester Amerks. We even went to see Pro Wrestling a few times. When I was twelve Bart acted as my surrogate Dad at a Father and Son Commune breakfast where we met Rocky Marciano. Bart was my Dad as well as my brother, but most of all he was my friend. I?ve lived away in Colorado and Arizona for many years, but I never lost contact with Bart and my sisters Maryann, Carole (Cookie) and Barbara. When Bart walked into a room, he lit it up. He was charismatic, gregarious, and had movie star good looks with his sparkling blue eyes, dimpled chin and melodic voice. Everyone loved him. He loved everyone. He was a lot like Dad. He made friends with politicians, bookies, ditch-diggers and artists and musicians. Bart was truly a special guy who made everyone happier by being around him. An era is ending with Bart?s passing. The family lost its patriarch. There will be a little less light without him in the world. I love you and miss you Big Brother. Journey well, Little Brother Eddy"

"Bro, Bardahl, Tony Curtis and Bart....my"big brother", my friend, confidant, instigator of goofing off and laughter, and lover of my mother's cooking. I loved shining his shoes and picking out his shirts and ties for his dates. Bart was color blind and he trusted me with this "honor". I will miss him dearly but know we will meet again one day in the beauty and peace of Heaven. See ya Bart....love you forever ??"
