Sylvia Mae Jackson 77, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Thursday July 21, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Sylvia was born October 9, 1944 in Hamilton, Ohio to Clayton and Opal (Hacker) Miller growing up in Harrison, Indiana. She attended North Dearborn High School in Logan, Indiana and graduated in 1962. She married the love of her life, Jerry Edward Jackson, on November 22, 1963 in Harrison, Ohio where they went on to have two children (Dana and Troy). Over the years, Sylvia worked in banking and as an accountant for several churches and their family-owned marketing business here in Omaha until she retired in 2002.
During retirement, Sylvia enjoyed golfing, gardening, fishing, traveling to visit family and spending time every year in Flagler Beach, Florida. She played golf 2-3 times per week, worked in her garden that she started in 2002 and was still loving and planting in 2022. She enjoyed having parties and inviting all of their friends over for card games and dinner. Sylvia cherished her family and friends and never met a stranger. She always said that "without friends and family, you don't have anything".
Sylvia had a special place in her heart for St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Tangier Shrine Transportation located in Omaha, Nebraska.
Preceding Sylvia in death were her mother and father, Opal and Clayton Miller and her brother, Donnie Miller.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Jerry Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Dana Updike and husband Pete of Bentonville, Arkansas; son, Troy Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Kyle Updike and wife Erin of Morrow, Ohio; Kara Updike of San Diego, California and Kameron Updike of Bentonville, Arkansas; one great grandchild, Kolton Updike son of Kyle and Erin of Morrow, Ohio; sister, Shelva Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; niece, Sheila Davis of Hamilton, Ohio.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to: Tangier Shrine Transportation Fund, 2823 S. 84th Street, Omaha, NE 68124, Attn: Sandy, 402-392-0404.
