Funeral services for Viola Becker will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Burt Presbyterian Church in Burt. Burial will be in the Burt Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the Burt Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made in Viola's name to the Burt Presbyterian Church, 204 Elm St., Burt, Iowa 50522.

Viola Maxine (Trenary) Becker was born October 11, 1922, in rural Burt, daughter of Thomas Carr and Grace Gladys (Smith) Trenary. She grew up on a farm east of Burt. She graduated from the Burt High School in 1940. After graduating, Viola went to Waterloo School of Beauty and graduated in 1941. She had a beauty salon in Burt until she was married.

Viola was united in marriage to Harold V. Becker at the Burt Presbyterian Church on November 23, 1947. They farmed in Burt and Swea City until retiring in1987 and moved to Algona in 1988. Her husband Harold passed away February 9, 1999. Viola continued to live in their Algona home until 2006, when she entered the Algona Manor.

She was a member of the Burt Presbyterian Church all of her life. She had a very strong faith in the Lord. Viola was a member of the circle, The Presbyterian Women, Deaconess of the church and Trustee of the Presbyterian Church.

Viola loved flowers and gardening. She made many floral arrangements for special occasions at the church and family celebrations. She enjoyed the Kossuth County Fair and exhibited numerous items every year including baked and canned goods, craft items, and embroidery work. In 2008, she was recognized by the Kossuth County Fair Board for 60 years of consecutive exhibiting.

Viola Becker, 99, of Algona formerly of Burt and Swea City died Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Algona Manor Care Center.

Viola is survived by niece, Barbara Bauer of Burt; nephews, Richard Dugan and wife, Trudy of Algona; Roger Dugan and wife, Georgia of Davenport and a very special sister-in-law, Evelyn Mawdsley and husband, Roscoe. Several other family members, nieces, nephews, great and great-great.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Dugan and her husband, Ralph; brother, Kenneth Trenary; two nephews, Eugene and Royce Dugan and great-nephew, Chad Dugan and a very special great-nephew she babysat as a baby, Bradie Harold Becker.

"Viola was a very sweet woman. My parents, Claire and Joyce Reutzel were very fond of Harold and Viola. They attended the Indy 500 with them back in the late sixties and made many memories on the trip. It was always fun to chat with Harold and Viola! They are together again in heaven now."
