In loving memory of

DeAnne Dunsdon
September 18, 1951 - July 18, 2022

DeAnne Dunsdon, 70 of Ankeny, IA, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, July 18th, 2022 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.
DeAnne was born on September 18th, 1951, in Culbertson, MT. She was raised in Culbertson in a large faithful family where she learned values she carried throughout her life. She graduated valedictorian from Culbertson High School in 1969 and then continued her education at Graceland University earning her BA degree in music education. While at Graceland, DeAnne met the love of her life and forever partner Ronald Dunsdon; they were united in marriage on May 29th, 1971. The couple lived in various locations in Iowa, Missouri and Kansas and then settled in Fort Dodge, IA where they spent 31 years before recently moving to Ankeny to be closer to family.
DeAnne taught vocal music at Sioux Central and Fremont-Mills School Districts but chose to spend much of her life as a homemaker, focusing on rearing her family. She spent her time volunteering at church and within the community. She served as a Cub Scout Den Leader and held leadership positions on booster clubs in her children's schools. She enjoyed music and shared this with others by providing music lessons out of her home and spending many years as a member of the Fort Dodge Choral Society, serving as president, scholarship committee chair, secretary, and grant writer for Deardorf & Ann Smeltzer charities.
As a lifelong member of the Community of Christ church, DeAnne served as pastor and co-pastor with her husband for many years. She enjoyed developing worship services, involving as many participants as possible. She held the priesthood office of Evangelist. She felt it very important to be involved with ecumenical ministries providing support to ministries that the smaller congregation could not support themselves. Her faith brought her through tough times in her life and served as an inspiration to others.
Her compassion touched the lives of many, and the light she brought to this world will never be forgotten.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years Ronald, sons Aaron (Leah) Dunsdon of Lake Tapps, WA, Jared (Thai) Dunsdon of Kent, WA, daughter Jenica (Robert) Dunavan of Ankeny, IA, grandchildren Zachary and Cameron Dunsdon, Zoe Schell, and Blair Dunavan, siblings Gene McCracken of Maple Grove, MN, Sheran (Dave) Long of Lee's Summit, MO, Thomas (Bonnie) McCracken of Ashland, OR, Warren (Kathy) McCracken of Leander, TX, Joe (Leah) McCracken of Sun City West, AZ, and Mara Dale (Rog) Gryder of Alliance, NE.
